This “Half-Octave” group was e-mailed to me by Rick
Miller, who uses it in testing the flutes and whistles that he
makes. I have to admit, I didn’t hold out a lot of hope for it when
I first saw the fingerings... but I gave it a try.
Not only did these fingerings work, they worked
better than the more widely accepted “standard” fingerings.
Rick writes “I’m not certain, but [these fingerings]
may only apply to straight-bore instruments.”
The test whistle used was a Generation D; I plan on
testing them on several conical-bore whistles in the near future.
Update: 23 December 2006 There has been
a little more field research with these fingerings. Daniel Fernandez
writes:

Copeland High D
Hudson Wind High D

And cheers to you, too, Daniel. Hudson Wind, huh?
I've not heard of that whistle before. Must find out more... |
