Special thanks to Amateur Ocarina (chiffer!) and Whistle
Player [AO(C!)&WP] Karl Schuttler for this traditional-scale
sweet potato ocarina finger chart.
For months -- nay, years -- now, sweet potato ocarina
players across the country and around the world have been clamoring for
a chart tailored to their traditional-scale instruments. Clamor no more,
my sweet-potato-loving friends! Thanks to Karl Schuttler, who, I
understand, sequestered himself away for three long years, leading a
monk-like existence and eating nothing but bread, water and a special
imported chocolate spread (for the caffeine, of course!, but he didn't
enjoy it!) in an effort to complete this chart.
The Tinwhistle Fingerings Research Center is proud to
bring you the result of his effort. I know that many of you will clamor
that Fa-Sharp is far too complex in the traditional scale and will cling
to your nontraditional keyed sweet potato ocarinas. Well, let me just
say it is PRECISELY that sort of backwards thinking that has resulted in
the current confusing proliferation of nontraditional sweet potato
ocarina fingering charts that currently plague the sweet potato ocarina
playing world. If you lazy sweet potato ocarina players would get with
the program and learn your right fingerings, the world would be a better
place for us all!
My hat is off to you, Mr. Schuttler. Don't be surprised
if you see a Bud Light commercial in your honor in the near future. If
there is any justice in the traditional sweet potato ocarina playing
world, there will be... there will be.
